Last Day of School

Today was Rhys' last day of summer session and though he doesn't quite understand what this means today, I'm anticipating that he will feel sad next week when he realizes that I will not be dropping him off at school until September.

The last few days I've been tempting him with cola. I tell him if he sits on the toilet I promise to give him a full can of cola all to himself at lunchtime. His usual response is a long drawn out 'nooooooooooooooooooooo'. And so at lunchtime I pass glasses out to everyone and evenly pour small amounts of cola into them from one can. We sit at the table each commenting on how delicious and refreshing our small cup of cola is accompanied by other descriptive words like 'yummy' 'ummmm... ummm... ummmm'.

The funny thing is he would just sit there looking completely unaffected even going so far as to say 'no, i'm eatting', to which we redouble our efforts by waving the glass in front of him and saying 'ummmm... coke'. He will continue to act like it's nothing and he doesn't want it until finally after repeatedly teasing him he would unexpectedly turn and make a lunge for it!

So this morning when we dropped him off at school he went to the restroom to go no. 1 and then he's dilly dallying before he goes back in and actually pulls his pants down and continued to hop onto the seat and sit! I was amazed as this is the second time in two weeks that he's voluntarily done this! Could this be a result of the cola effect? Maybe. Yay!
